For over 13 years, Tony Patton developed his skills as a trial attorney at an AM 100 law firm, defending some of the country’s largest hospital systems. Tony now applies those skills to representing individuals who are injured as the result of medical negligence or other acts of neglect. Tony has experience with a variety of legal issues, including quality of patient care, the medical necessity of procedures, lack of informed consent and failure to follow hospital policies and protocols. Tony has successfully resolved over 200 healthcare litigation disputes and participated in over 300 depositions of physicians, nurses, hospital administration and expert witnesses. To further his medical knowledge in surgical cases, Tony has “scrubbed in” and observed surgical procedures, allowing him to gain a comprehensive understanding of the duties and interplay between members of the operative team.
Tony has also been involved in numerous complex mass-tort lawsuits against hospitals with allegations of medical negligence, over-utilization of procedures, and insufficient peer review protocols concerning the clinical practice of medicine. His most recent mass-tort cases concerned the alleged over-utilization of cardiac stents, medically unnecessary cardiac by-pass procedures, and medically unnecessary and counterfeit spinal fusion hardware.
Tony also represents plaintiffs nationwide in complex litigation against pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers who rush drugs to market or fail to conduct sufficient testing. He also has significant experience with toxic-tort lawsuits, involving asbestos and other federally regulated products that can be extremely injurious to the health of individuals.
Through his years of health care litigation, Tony has developed professional relationships with a network of highly trained and prestigious health care experts at some of the finest and most well-respected institutions in the country. These physicians are at the top of their respective fields and offer (oftentimes at trial) critical guidance on complex health care matters.
